My Kung Fu adventure around Southeast Asia is not only about learning and experiencing new things, but also about sharing the knowledge I’ve accumulated over my last 30 years of being immersed in the combative martial arts.
With that in mind, I held my first Dirty Boxing Camp in the Philippines last weekend, April 25 & 26, 2015 at Luneta Park, Manila.
The event was 100% free!
With much respect, it was my way of giving back to my Pinoy Brothers in the Filipino Martial Arts community for all they have given me.
I dedicated the event to my teachers, Guro Dan Inosanto and the late Mang Tony Diego.
MAY GOD BLESS MANG TONY’S SOUL IN HEAVEN.
With the blessing of my Kalis Ilustrisimo brothers, the event was held in the same spot where Mang Tony Diego taught the art of Kalis Ilustrisimo (KI) to me and many others before passing away last August.
In attendance was Maestro Arnold Narzo, the new leader of Kalis Ilustrisimo Repeticion Orihinal in the Philippines. Maestro Arnold is the one Mang Tony personally trained to take over his roll of teaching Kalis Ilustrisimo in the Philippines once he passed.
Also in attendance was Alex Ercia. I trained Alex privately in Dirty Boxing (Panuntukan) every morning at Legaspi Park, Manila the week before in preparation for this event. On Saturday I awarded Alex Ercia with with an Apprentice Instructor Certification (Lakan Guro) in Filipino Boxing (Dirty Boxing) with Warrior Arts Alliance.
Congratulations Guro Alex! He is now the first individual in the Philippines to gain instructor rank in Filipino Boxing (Panuntukan or Suntokan) with Warrior Arts Alliance.
Also, many thanks to Alex for helping me to organize the Dirty Boxing Manila Camp. The Manila Camp was a huge success! We had over 50 people in attendance each day.
The 6-hour workshop covered the Lacoste/Inosanto method of Filipino Boxing (Suntokan or Panuntukan).
The people were fantastic! They came from different backgrounds, some into the Filipino Martial Arts, some into Muay Thai, Yaw Yan, etc. but everyone had a great time.
Stay tuned as the next chapter of the saga unfolds!
Awesome work Guro/Ajarn !
Would like to attend a seminar in So. Cal on the subject of Dirty Boxing. That should be pretty awesome !
